Interview With Author Thinker Mindset
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve always been obsessed with understanding how focus works—how we lose it, how we get it back, and how it shapes everything we do. The Focus Equation is my first book, written for anyone who feels pulled in a hundred directions. It’s the start of a series designed to make personal growth simpler, sharper, and more actionable.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Focus Equation: 21 Secrets to Boost Your Focus in a Distracted World
It was born from my own struggle to stay focused in a world that’s constantly pulling at our attention. I started testing simple techniques and frameworks—what worked made it into the book.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I use a method I call “mental sprints”—short, focused writing sessions using the exact techniques I teach in the book. I also tend to sketch diagrams or visual metaphors before writing a chapter.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Books like Deep Work by Cal Newport, The One Thing by Gary Keller, and Atomic Habits by James Clear inspired me. But I wanted to create something more concise and action-oriented—something people can finish in one sitting and start using that day.
What are you working on now?
I’m expanding The Focus Equation into a series. Next up is The Habit Equation. I’m also building the a newsletter and blog called Unthink the Obvious.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Right now, I’m focused on organic growth—sharing useful ideas on social media, building my email list, and giving away the book during free promotions to reach as many readers as possible.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t wait for perfect. Write what you’ve lived, publish fast, and learn as you go. Think like a small startup—keep it simple, test ideas, and listen to your readers.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Don’t be more focused—be less distracted.” That mindset shift changed everything for me, and it’s central to my book.
What are you reading now?
I like to read one practical book and one unexpected one at the same time. Currently revisiting Rework by Basecamp’s founders.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ll keep writing, learning, and putting ideas into words that help me stay focused and clear—and hopefully help others do the same. The Habit Equation is next, and beyond that, I’ll keep showing up with whatever feels real, useful, and worth sharing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, Deep Work by Cal Newport, Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, and a blank notebook.
