Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I went directly from high school to marriage and sales. I remained in the sales industry until I was 45 when I left the corporate world and entered into private enterprise in real estate sales and management, then on to office building maintenance.
In 1999 I lost my wife and part of my life and did not regain the latter notation until three years later when I met my new wife who has inspired me to write poetry and novels.
I have published 12 books to date.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is a mystery, “Deavereau and the Napoleon Clock Incident.” I became engrossed in the excitement of becoming the lead character in my last book and it just evolved into the second “Incident” Book and my new character, Deavereau (who preferred not to use the normal spelling of his name ending with an “x”)
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think so, but then how would I know? I used to write all day, but that became a bit of a problem when my back recognized reality along with my chiropractor. Now, I write a few hours, wander about the house, take the dog for a walk, enjoy a short scotch in the afternoon and then write some more.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have been influenced by several authors. The most recent have been Koontz, Balducci, and Marshall Franks. Earlier were Patrick M. McMannus, Gary Wells and Edgar Allen Poe.
What are you working on now?
I am in the thought stages of my next Deavereau novel.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use my own website, facebook, twitter and Author.com
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Take your time, re-read, re-write, re-think, and then do them all again as many times as it takes to make your book as perfect as you can…don’t take advice from your friends and relatives because they will flatter you and what you think is great because of that will cause you to fail.
Don’t give up!!!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t take yourself for granted. View your work as though someone else wrote it and do what you have to do.
What are you reading now?
The Bible, The Whole Truth by Balducci
What’s next for you as a writer?
Enjoy life, take some good photos of the world around me, and soak up as much knowledge as I can. Then write about it in my next book.
What is your favorite book of all time?
The Bible, Todays English Version
