Interview With Author Tim Hillis, Ph.D.
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a consummate student. I am always enrolled in a course somewhere learning something new or expanding on my knowledge base. I believe one can only be a successful conveyor of information as long as they are always expanding their own understanding and creating new horizons of interest for themselves. You cannot inspire if you are not inspired.
I have written numerous free study guides including but not limited to: “CoExist? An End Times Research Paper”, “Guidelines for Pastors and Prophets”, “The Gift of Pastor-Teacher”, and more.
I have published “The Two Faces of the Church”, “Theology Reconsidered”, and my newest investigative report on Ecclesiology “Anointed to Rule”.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Anointed to Rule is already published as an E-Book on Amazon and the nearly 500 page E-Book will be available January 2, 2024.
I was reading in my favorite Chronological Bible and came across a footnote that indicated William Tyndale was martyred partly for his refusal to translate the word “ekklesia” (ecclesia) as church. Which made me curious. So I began with an etymologic study of the English word church and every page of information I found revealed another rabbit hole. Before I knew it I had written several hundred pages of notes which after approximately 5 years of gathering, refining, and editing became the most exhaustive research I had ever seen on the topic. Anointed to Rule covers the linguistic, historic, cultural, geopolitical socioeconomic conditions of the 1st century into consideration and deeply examines exactly who the Ekklesia was, is, and will be.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am retired from Law Enforcement, so I am accustomed to writing reports based on the facts. Before I can do this, however, I have to also have an evidence trail that clearly defines the process of discovery to the reader, making it as though they have come along on the adventure with me. Because of this, my readers tend to feel more like they are an archeologist, linguist, or historian reading a paper that appeals to their sense of adventure. They often walk away from reading my books with a renewed sense of passion and focus because I cover all the bases to make a complete case which is near irrefutable in most cases.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
C.S. Lewis and Albert Bayliss have greatly influenced my research style and my delivery. I feel Lewis’ childlike approach to asking questions others never even think of in his study led him to be more creative, while Bayliss’ ability to convey factual material in ways that made history and linguistics come to life. I attempt to reproduce these qualities in everything I write.
What are you working on now?
I will be building a 2nd Edition to Theology Reconsidered in the near future. The goal in this edition is to look at topics from Systematic Theology and flesh them out from a 1st Century perspective. That is, after all, my area of specialty – 1st Century Theology and Doctrine.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Amazon, but my e-books tend to do well from our own landing page https://TheBibleMadeEasy.online.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never stop learning, even if it’s not on the topic(s) you write about. Even a fiction writer needs a broad realm of experience to make characters leap out of the pages and come to life for the reader.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
There is no end. We just keep going. SO just keep going.
What are you reading now?
The Dead Sea Scrolls, The Tree of Life Version of the Bible, the works of Raymond Robert Fischer
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to move into dystopian-type End Times thrillers.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My favorite Chronological Gospels “The 70 Week Ministry of Messiah”, the Jewish Publication Society Bible, The Ways of the Way
