About To Venus and Back, One Man’s Quest to Rediscover Love
“To Venus & Back, One Man’s Quest to Rediscover Love,” is adventurous, intimate, voyeuristic, shocking, and funny like most dating memoirs, but it stands apart because of its heartbreakingly tragic back-story: at age fifty-three, two years after the sudden and unexpected loss of his wife, Turner Grant dared to re-engage in life and search for love.
This book is a very personal story about dating, relationships, and looking to find love again when Turner—an architect in Washington DC, onetime congressional candidate, and father of twin boys—never expected to be doing any such thing. It’s a front-row seat to one man’s interactions with twenty-six—out of a total of fifty-four—middle-aged women in three years. Interwoven throughout is also a profound story about life, loss, and a quest to heal.
We all have in our lives certain things we never talk about and never share—that which is the most personal and intimate and rarely makes it past a hushed conversation with a trusted friend, if even that. “To Venus & Back, One Man’s Quest to Rediscover Love,” is a memoir by a man about women and for women which dares to reveal and share those very things.
