Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Northern Knights is my first published work and it’s also the first episode in the Lord of Columbia series. I have two more completed books, which are the second and third episodes in the series to be released within the coming months.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Northern Knights was inspired by the History Channel’s miniseries, Sons of Liberty. On July 4th, 2015, while watching the flick I thought I could make a story of a modern-day Revolutionary War, but with influences from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter, George Lucas’ Star Wars, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Thus, Northern Knights was born.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m the ultimate outliner wannabe, but somewhere in the middle of every first draft I tend to ‘find’ my characters in different situations and deviate from my outline.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Harry Potter by far, C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia, Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell, just to name a few.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on Book Two in the Lord of Columbia Series. As stated, it’s almost finished and I’m just tying a few loose ends. Also, Book Three is also finished and will be polished once Book Two is released.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I try to reach out to as many as possible and take the ones which have had the best reviews.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes! I always state writing is a passion that’s been influenced by another passion. With that being said, remember why you started, and what influenced you to embark on your writing journey.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Put your characters into terrible trouble and write to find out what happens. If you feel you’re writing into a corner, inject as much conflict as you can.
What are you reading now?
I habitually read the Chronicles of Narnia, but I also love books by Ron Paul. I view him as a modern-day Founding Father and no one knows liberty like he does.
What’s next for you as a writer?
To continue to promote the message in Lord of Columbia, which is to let individual liberty, and the Constitutional Law of the Land live.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Magician’s Nephew, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Liberty Defined, and Wealth of Nations.
