Interview With Author Tom Kropp
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
For the holidays I have many free audiobooks and eBooks available at Google Play Books and Smashwords.
My work has appeared in Chiron Review, Churches, Children and Daddies, Down in the Dirt, The Horror Zine, Freedom Fiction Short-Story Me, Dark Harbor Magazine, Blood Moon Rising, Flash Phantoms, Phantomania, Lowlife Lit, The Listening Eye, J Journal, Evening Street Review, Conceit, Spotlight on Recovery, Muscle and Fitness, Outdoor Life and many other magazines. My play Jailhouse Confessions was performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in 2019. I have many novels published.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Murders In Magazines contains 20 short stories of mine that were published in well-known magazines in 2025. I love reading and writing short stories. For the holidays my audiobook is available free at Google Play Books and my eBook free at Smashwords and Barnes & Noble.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Far too many to only mention a few.
What are you working on now?
I currently have numerous short stories due for publication and I’m working on another book in my Homicide Crimes series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Dedicated readers that communicate together across all social media and in person.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t quit your day job.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you can quit writing, then quit. If you need to write, then keep going and try to enjoy it.
What are you reading now?
I’m a new fan of the websites Short-Story Me, Freedom Fiction Journal, Scars Writings and others. They publish high quality genre fiction.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Adventures.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Game of Thrones series.
