Interview With Author Traci Wennerholm
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi! I’m a food blogger, recipe developer, and cookbook author who is passionate about creating simple and delicious meals for busy families. I have over a decade of experience in and have honed my skills in creating recipes that are both easy to prepare and packed with flavor.
My website, BurntApple.com, has built a loyal following of readers who appreciate my approachable style and practical tips for meal planning and preparation. My recipes have been featured in various online and print publications, and I have collaborated with a number of top brands in the food and home industries.
In addition to my work as a blogger, I have authored several cookbooks, including the popular Five Ingredient or Less Restaurant Copycat Cookbook. My recipes and cooking tips have helped countless families save time and money while still enjoying delicious, home-cooked meals.
When I’m not in the kitchen, I can be found spending time with my family, exploring new restaurants and food trends, and enjoying the great outdoors while running. (The running allows me to eat more cookies!)
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Five Ingredient or Less Restaurant Copycat Recipes. I created it because I went to Red Lobster and Texas Roadhouse super hungry and THOSE ROLLS took hangry to whole new levels. I HATED feeling deprived so I started to experiment with recipes in the kitchen that had five ingredients or less but were restaurant and fast food favorites. Then I adapted them so anyone could enjoy them no matter what their dietary needs.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I always have to have noise–the TV on, or something!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have a masters in counseling so I’m always into that type of reading–Brene Brown, Jodi Piccoult–the stories that get you thinking or quoting them long after you’ve read them.
What are you working on now?
Another copycat cookbook!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still new at this so I’m always looking for more information on this. I guess I never stop reading or learning how to better promote my books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just start writing what interests you and your readers. If it doesn’t interest you though, it’s pretty hard to get through the project.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t be stupid.
What are you reading now?
Lot’s of psychology books for an upcoming conference!
What’s next for you as a writer?
Just seeing how my readers respond to this and getting started on more projects!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Tough question, I think I would be one of those too busy crying trying to figure out why Google wasn’t working because I needed to find out if it was a poisonous plant or not.
