About Tribute by Ellaura Shoop
A new, gritty YA fantasy that will appeal to fans of Percy Jackson and The Olympians, Song of Achilles, and Lies We Sing To The Sea…
In this dark, adventurous novella Ikarus isn’t just the boy who flew too close to the sun. He’s about to become a legend in his own right and learn that even heroes cast shadows.
Ikarus was raised a prisoner in the palace of Knossos on the island of Genesis in ancient Greece. For as long as he can remember he has known that he is the one thing holding his father, the famed Daedalus, back from escaping servitude. King Minos wouldn’t hesitate to hurt the inventor’s son if either of them stepped too far out of line. While his father remains complacent Ikarus longs for freedom. When an Athenian prince volunteers as one of the fourteen yearly tributes sacrificed to the Minotaur and Ikarus’ best friend Ariadne insists on getting involved, Ikarus seizes his chance. He puts his trust in Theseus hoping the prince will help him and his father flee Minos’ clutches. But to earn a place on Theseus’ ship Ikarus must enter the unsolvable labyrinth built by Daedalus himself and face a monster unlike any other…

Author Bio:
Ellaura Shoop, named after the fictious princess Elora from the cult classic Willow, is a Pet Loss Specialist residing in the beautiful countryside of North Carolina. Despite her proximity to the beach, she refuses to venture out to sea unless on a cruise or with the intent of shark watching. Her favorite drink is coffee even though it makes her sleepy (caffeine is a lie, please help her, she really is tired) and she’s the proud mom of two dogs, one cat, and a wily guinea pig. Ellaura has always been fascinated by animal behavior and psychology which spurred her to accomplish her writing goals. She's a Greek mythology savant and a self-proclaimed procrastination expert. Seriously, if you follow her on social media, you'll get free classes. Notice how she forgets to post every day? With enough absentmindedness, you too can be a world-call procrastinator. Oh, and when she's not procrastinating, she dabbles in digital art.
As a rule of thumb her purpose in writing is to educate, inspire, entertain, and get people thinking about their impact on others and the world around them. She is the author of several novels for a variety of audiences. Have any feedback? Good, because Ellaura eats that stuff up. It's how authors get their nourishment. Contact Ellaura on social media to inquire how in the heck she writes novels. Or better yet, ask her during a Q&A session at an in-person event. It's so amusing to watch her internally will herself to spontaneously-combust in order to avoid sounding stupid. She promises she majored in English.
