Interview With Author Tricia Easter
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m an anxiety coach, mental health advocate, author, and budding flower farmer. I’ve written two books – one for children and one for adults. Both of my books support mental health.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Perfectly Sunny – A Big-Hearted Hedgehog Finds Her Forever Home. This book is inspired by my daughter’s sweetest real life three-legged hedgehog, named Sunny.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I light a candle when I’m writing at my desk. It keeps me feeling cozy and inspired.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Geez… There are so many. Glennon Doyle’s book Untamed is amazing. Jodi Picoult’s new book By Any Other Name is great too. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert and Rise Sister Rise by Rebecca Campbell are wonderful reads too.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I working on promoting Perfectly Sunny but in any pockets of free time I’m prepping for my next non-fiction book for adults and my next kids book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I recommend reaching out to your family and friends to buy your book and support you with positive reviews. It can be very hard reaching out to people, but most people are excited about helping to promote your book.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Surround yourself with supportive people. If you don’t have many supportive people cheering you on, then start to piece together your support team. With the right support, you can accomplish anything. And if you’re afraid or feel imposter syndrome, keep moving forward one small step at a time.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
We don’t need to change ourselves to fit into an oftentimes dysfunctional world. We just need to figure out how to make this world work for us.
What are you reading now?
The Rival Queens by Nancy Goldstone. Her book In the Shadow of the Empress is another great read too.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m working on my next non-fiction book which is also about healing anxiety like my first book. I’m also working on my next children’s book. I’ll see what I get done this year!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
The Inheritance of Orquidea Divina by Zoraido Cordova
The Red Tent by Anita Diamant
