Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a full-time consultant and trainer for 25 years. I’ve worked with hundreds of businesses and thousands of business-people to help them make more money and gain the success they desire. Lease Options are Limiting: Use Straight Options for True Control of Real Estate and Any Asset is my first book.
I’ve been investing in real estate and businesses for close to 30 years now.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called, Lease Options are Limiting: Use Straight Options for True Control of Real Estate and Any Asset.
I was inspired to write this book back in 2004. I was doing a real estate deal, and was advised to use a procedure called a Straight Option. I’d heard about ‘lease’ options but never a ‘straight’ option in real estate. I used this procedure and turned a $20,000 profit on that deal. I looked for further information and found very little on this topic. I continued to use the tool and eventually wanted to share my experience with other investors interested in limiting their risk and doing no money down deals, so I wrote the book.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I find I must write in concentrated spurts like 3 days in a row, and then take a couple of weeks off between my next ‘writing’ attack.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Dale Carnegie is still one of the greats with How to Win Friends and Influence People. I believe that book, analysed and lived daily, will lead anyone to happiness and success.
Napolean Hill with Think and Grow Rich changed my life when I was 20 and inspired me to start my first business, a clothing store. It has been the fuel for everything else ever since.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a book on Investor Mindset – the ‘beingness’ of an investor and how having this mindset can lead to financial success in anything AND lasting life happiness. Incidentally, these are two of my favourite subjects.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write. Don’t be good at first, just write. You will get good. I’m still not a good writer, but I’m better than when I started.
Also, unless you are a staunch literary person, work on being a best-selling author rather than being a best-writing author. I got that from Robert Kiyosaki. Most of the world will forgive your grammatical errors, but don’t deprive them of your ideas by worrying about being perfect. Write to sell, ie. write something people want to read.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
This too shall pass. If you are having writers block, relax, this too shall pass. Just write.
What are you reading now?
Some books based around an idea called the 3 Principles. Not really business related, but more ‘life-related’. Check out Michael Neill as a first resource or Syd Banks (the founder of this idea).
What’s next for you as a writer?
More clear and concise writing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, Brothers Kazmarov, The Prophet, and How to Get off a Desert Island
