Interview With Author Vianlix-Christine Schneider
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been writing since I was very young. Creating my own world was always something I enjoyed and did as much as I could. But I didn’t take it seriously till 2020. During my senor year of High School, I started to write Seaside Magic, just as a way to relax after hours of studying and to have some fun during the lock down. My mom read it and started looking for an editor telling me the world needed to hear my story. Since then, I have written four novels and five children books.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Seaside Magic, The World of The Mirror”. It was released back in February of this year. After I was done editing the first book of the series, I felt like more could have been said, I was also really sad to let go of the characters that had gotten me through the lockdown. So, I sat down and thought about all the ways this second book could go. There was a lot of different drafts of the ending (Maybe I’ll share them one day) but I am really proud of the final result.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I stare blankly at the wall in front of my desk. I don’t know how unusual that is, but if I’m thinking over how I want my words to come out, I cup my chin in my hands and stare off into space for a good few minutes. I mean, it works!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read A LOT! So I really believe I am influenced a little by each story I’ve pick up in my life so far. Growing up I used to read books by Leila Howland, and till this day, I still remember how her Silver Sisters series felt like a joyful summer day. I tried to have the same vibe flow into my own story. Along with Authors like Holly Black, her series of The Folk of the Air was outstanding and made me excited each time I put the book down to pick it up again later, to see what happened to all my favorite characters.
What are you working on now?
As of now, I am curranty editing the third book in the Seaside Magic series. My editor gave me some great feed back keeping me busy! I am also working on a new novel, that has nothing to do with Seaside Magic. I don’t want to give away the tittle yet, but its a fantasy novel filled with dragons and adventure! And I can’t wait for the world to read it.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Instagram is by far the best way to promote my books. The posts at times can reach so many people, that can purchase your book with a few taps of their screens. I also have a really supportive friends who shares all the information of my books to their friends. And that helps me so much!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just start. Don’t over think it! It’s so easy to get mixed up in the story and overall plot of it. At times there can be so much you want to say and it can get overwhelming. I find that works best to write everything down on a piece of paper with a pencil and get the ideas out. It also works as a guide line while you’re writing your story to help keep you stay on track. Finding a great soundtrack helps a lot too! So if you have a story you want to tell, Fiction or nonfiction, just find the time to sit down and write it. I believe in you!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else” This quote from P.T. Barnum plays in my mind a lot. No one wants to read the same story but told in a different form or from another author. Being bold and different is what will help your story and yourself stand out of the crowd.
What are you reading now?
I am reading an amazing book called The Magician’s Daughter, by H.G. Parry. I am almost done with it and I have enjoyed each page of this perfect story. I can’t recommend it enough to anyone who likes a good fantasy book!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to travel to write! I would love to get on a plane going to Cinque Terre, Italy and take my laptop and imagination and just swim, eat, and write all day.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
First, I would get a book on how to survive on a desert island for dummies and hope for the best. lol. But seriously, I would take with me, The Cruel Prince, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, Poisoned, and Five Feet apart.
