What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Just Desserts…and Other Stories is a collection of very short stories. Inspiration can be found in many places, especially in the crazy things my family says.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write to classical guitar. No words to songs to penetrate my brain. Besides, the music is really beautiful.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I began reading, like many of you, The Bobbsey Twins, Trixie Belden, and Nancy Drew mysteries. When I was fourteen, my mom introduced me to Emilie Loring romances. I found Daphne du Maurier, Mary Stewart, M M Kaye, and Dick Francis. When I became obsessed with Dick Francis mysteries, I finally confessed to Handsome I wished I could write like this. I love(d) Sue Grafton, Janet Evanovich, P. D. James, Sophie Kinsella, Jill Mansell, Marian Keyes.
What are you working on now?
I’m writing my third humorous romantic mystery, Temporarily Out of Luck; a holiday short story, Romeo and Julietta, a paranormal short story, Pixie Trixie.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use lots of social media and many book sites.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Persist. Don’t let anyone define you. You are in control of your writing destiny. So persist!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The first critique I ever had showed me how to write tight and suggested a book which helped me immensely.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading a book for book club and more contemporary romance.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I need to finish those projects I’m writing. I hope to release short stories in ebook form too.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d love to have a solar powered e-reader. Some books I’ve read over and over are A Knight in Shining Armor, Rebecca, and Madam, Will You Talk?
