Interview With Author Vidya Gopinath
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a published poet and an aspiring writer, based out of Kerala, India. I have published 2 solo poetry books having about 40+ poems each. I have also contributed poems to about 3 anthologies.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest solo book is called Rainbow on the Horizons. And my inspiration behind it is my imagination I would say.
But, technically my latest book is actually the anthology I contributed to, The Stories from India Vol I by Ukiyoto Publsihing. Her my poems are inspired by the women in mythology. My 3 poems are based on Godess Sita, Draupadi and finally Urmila.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write whenever my mood strikes me. More often this is early morning.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love a great number of poems and authors but I don’t think anyone has influenced me.
What are you working on now?
I am currently or rather have been working on a thriller novella for a really long time now. I would rather not talk much about it, as it does not seem to be moving much. Also, I am working on my poems.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have only done very basic marketing or promotions for my book. I really need to focus more on promoting my books now.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read a lot of books and write often whatever comes to your mind. Never be put off by anything. Always keep writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just publish my work and don’t think of the consequences.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading the fantasy series Thorne of Glass. I am in the last book of the series now..
What’s next for you as a writer?
Could be my novella or my poetry book. I cannot really confirm now.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My writing pad for sure, my current read and my favourite authors Nora Roberts, Julie Garwood, Georgette Heyer or PG Wodehouse.
