Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a Canadian writer living in the maritime province of Nova Scotia. I curate the music library for Ancient FM, an online medieval and renaissance radio station. Beneath the Roots and White Bird (books 1 and 2 of The Aure Duology) are my only published works at this time but I’m working on a standalone fantasy novel entitled “Silver Light.”
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
White Bird is my latest published novel. It sprang naturally from the story line of Beneath the Roots. Beneath the Roots was inspired by William Morris’ book “The Sundering Flood.”
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Don’t know if this is weird, but I only listen to medieval and renaissance music when I write.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
William Morris, Patricia A. McKillip, and Robin Hobb.
What are you working on now?
Silver Light, a stand alone fantasy novel.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. And don’t stop writing.
What are you reading now?
Lost City of the Monkey God: A True Story, by Douglas Preston.
What’s next for you as a writer?
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Lord of the Rings and The Riddle-Master series (it’s in one volume now).
