Author Bio:
As a self-employed businessman his entire life, Mark started his career at the tender age of 8, as a fishing guide at his family’s business, Ox Yoke Dude Ranch and Veterans Home located in the heart of the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota.
Throughout high school Mark was a self-employed fur buyer, taxicab driver, rabbit raiser for meat and fur, and after graduating high school in Sheridan, WY attended a year of welding at Sheridan College.
Then working as member/VP of Pixley Transportation, inc. for 14 years while starting multiple Novus Auto Glass franchises which he continued for 40 years while achieving several awards for outstanding business owner/operator.
Mark Pixley wondered if he could carry on with his life in a meaningful way after a devastating car accident. Was there any joy left after such a tragedy? He didn’t know what would be possible after being permanently paralyzed from the arms down.
A devastating divorce and the challenges of living alone with such a severe injury presented severe barriers. He no longer had the ability to walk or stand, and had very limited arm and hand abilities, Mark overcame these obstacles with such determination and success that he decided to write this book, in hope of changing the lives of others in a similar overwhelming position.
In spite of these difficulties, Mark has gone on to start new businesses, hunt trophy animals with a crossbow in the U.S. and South Africa, fish, and become a successful author. Driving, fishing, cooking, gardening, pheasant hunting, service dog training, real estate investor, and serving on several disability advocate boards, are just some of the things Mark has accomplished since his accident.
He has been married to Greta, the love of his life, for 13 years. He is a father to two wonderful girls and a stepson, grandfather of seven, businessman, real estate investor, hunter, fisherman, traveler, friend, volunteer, community supporter, advisor, and a quadriplegic or correctly stated a “tetraplegic” with a never-give-up desire to live life!
Mark and Greta share their dreams and goals at their home in Kansas where they continue to live a life rich in both work and play.
