About Windhaven by David Burton
Sailor/author David Burton has just released Windhaven, his 12th novel. Windhaven is a 70-foot sailboat involved in an unsanctioned, nonstop race around the world, where the Current Ocean Race participants have just been. East of New Zealand, the ship runs afoul of a rogue wave, and the race for glory becomes a race for survival.
Without communications and engine and half a mast, the survivors fight for days to keep Windhaven afloat. Once the storm has passed, they are forced to work together for months through crisis after crisis, performing repairs and medical procedures they are untrained for to reach South America thousands of miles away.

Author Bio:
Burton is an experienced sailor who built and sailed his own boats to Mexico, Tahiti, Hawaii and through the Panama Canal. While on the water, he spent a lot of time reading, and eventually decided to write the kind of books he would enjoy while reading at sea. “Reading about a sea disaster might seem like I’m tempting fate,” he notes, “but this story is about surviving against all odds, which is kind of uplifting.”
