Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Misha and I am an urban fiction author. I have penned over 20 books in the last 3 years that I have been writing. Even at a young age, I’ve always wanted to write.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Lil Baby Addicted to a Thug and it releases on Amazon on July 10th. I started to think of and outline this book while I was writing my last. It was just a story that I couldn’t get off of my mind. It’s about a woman that goes to jail for her boyfriend, and comes out stronger, wiser and focused. I want readers to see her growth as well as the other characters, but showing that she’s strong and persevering is what inspired me to write this. A strong, black woman that made a mistake and now she’s learning from it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes. I have my favorite spot on the couch. When it’s time to write, I take a nice hot shower. My ideas stem from those showers a lot and then I put on something loose fitting so I’m really comfortable. Then I need some good music or a show that I’ve already seen so I’m not paying attention to it, but I love background noise while I write. Some of the best books have been written as I sit cross legged on my couch.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The list is longgg. I’ve been an avid read since about 13 sneaking and reading my mothers books. But, I’ll try anyway.
Nikki Turner-A Hustler’s Wife
Tracy Brown-White Lines
Keisha Ervin-Me and My Boyfriend
Mercy B-Rahmeek and Bella series
Sister Soulja-The Coldest Winter Ever
Vickie Stringer-Dirty Red series
T.N. Baker-Sheisty
This is a small list because believe me there are more. These are books I couldn’t put down and made me realize just how much I loved these stories.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on part 2 to Lil Baby Addicted to a Thug.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Promoting on Facebook, in groups, word of mouth, instagram, twitter and then awesome gang.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes, study the market that you’re writing for. Read the books. See what the audience is going for and what they’re liking right now. You can still write what you want, but you also have to give your audience what they want.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never stop learning. I’m literally on Amazon all the time looking for resources to help my writing improve. You can’t write a sex scene? Having trouble with dialogue? There are books that can help you.
What are you reading now?
Held Captive By His Ruthless Love by Charmaine Saquea
Also, I downloaded Rahmeek and Bella a couple of days ago lol
What’s next for you as a writer?
Big things, hopefully. I’m going to continue writing and trying to get my work out there. Finding new ways to market and promote.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Nikki Turner-A Hustler’s Wife
Tracy Brown-White Lines
Misha-Lil Baby Addicted to a Thug
T.N. Baker-Sheisty
