Interview With Author Yasmine Millett
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
The Erotic Notebooks is the first book I have published. However, there is a stack of works on my desk waiting to be edited and published, so it will certainly not be the last.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled "The Erotic Notebooks". It was originally written as a collection of stories for a former lover, each exploring a past experience.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I always like to write in public places; in parks, in cafés, in bars, at the beach. I like to feel the world around me; to have people going about their daily lives, while I sit quietly, writing erotica.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Anais Nin and Emmanuelle Arsan are my strongest erotic influences; but I have been influenced also by Proust, Gertrude Stein, De Beauvoir, and many others.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on putting the finishing touches on a semi-biographical erotic novel about a young woman who moves to Spain to study art and becomes entangled in a darkly sensuous love-triangle between herself, the libertine artist who is her tutor, and the fiery young woman from whom she rents a room.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far I am experimenting with many… we will see which works best.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Enjoy the process of writing, and do not worry about whether you will have success or not.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
We regret, not those things we do, but those things we never dared to do.
What are you reading now?
Currently I am engrossed in Bonjour Tristesse by Sagan.
What’s next for you as a writer?
To keep writing, keep drawing pleasure from it, and to try to develop into the best writer I can be.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A difficult question, but I think I would take "In Search of Lost Time," Emmanuelle, The Picture Of Dorian Gray, and the complete works of Byron.
