About Z Empire Unmasked: War in the Heart of a Fracturing World
Z Empire Unmasked: War in the Heart of a Fracturing World is a timely and incisive examination of Russia’s revisionist imperial strategy, characterised by aggressive and borderless expansion through a hybrid warfare strategy, which has ruptured the liberal international order. This geostrategy has taken its most overt manifestation in the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Written by Ukrainian New Zealander Kyrylo Cyril Kutcher, this work combines historical context, geopolitical theory, and contemporary analysis to illuminate the roots, patterns, and predictable, recurrent consequences of Russia’s aggression in Europe — for both those directly affected and the wider world. The book comprises a curated selection of previously published essays and speeches, alongside new commentary and analysis.
Through a thematic progression of essays, some accompanied by maps, the author synthesises theoretical and philosophical perspectives on contemporary international problems, historical research, strategic analysis, and firsthand accounts from those experiencing the war to reveal its enduring, pivotal implications for global peace and justice. Bridging academia, policy, and public understanding, this book offers accessible briefings for policymakers, educators, researchers, and globally engaged readers. It is an essential resource for understanding the largest war on the European continent in the 21st century and why its outcome holds global significance.
