Interview With Author Zak Brown
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, my name is Zak Brown and from a young age I have been very passionate about foraging and all things nature. I grew up in London so it was hard to find edible foods but recurring trips to the countryside got me interested in foraging and after taking multiple courses and working on my skills as both a writer and a collector of edible plants I have decided to compile my knowledge and publish it to help others.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is The Natural Harvest, it is not only my latest but also my first! The book was inspired by reading the books of famous experts such as Robin Halford and my passion for edible plants (and mushrooms).
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do not think that I have any particularly unusual writing habits but one of my favourite things to do is to plan my books out down to the time that I will write each bit to try and keep myself on track.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are hundreds of books that have changed my life but to name a few of my biggest inspiration I would have to say people like Robin Halford who inspired me to start foraging in the first place and publishing successes like the no.1 bestseller on amazon Food for Free.
What are you working on now?
I am not currently writing another book but have some ideas in store so well have to see what happens next.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
To promote my books I love to use promotional site like awesomegang.com due to ease of use and free options for writers on any budget. I also believe that it is hard to go wrong with Amazon Ads again due to its beginner friendly design.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice for new authors would be to focus on reviews and the book launch in particular to spread your net as wide as possible and for those who intend to write a book ‘someday’ (like I did) my best advice would be to just start writing, once you begin it is relatively simple.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading Atomic Habits by James Clear and I would heavily recommend it.
What’s next for you as a writer?
For me the next thing to do will be to continue to promote my book ‘The Natural harvest’ and in the future I would like to write another on a different aspect of living outdoors.
