Interview With Author Zeno Zokalj
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a financial literacy advocate, crypto enthusiast, and lifelong learner from Croatia. I live with my wife and son, and they’re a big part of what keeps me grounded and inspired. I’ve written one full-length book so far, Crypto Unlocked: The Modern Guide to Digital Wealth, and I’m currently working on a 6-book series called Wealth Odyssey, which explores mindset, investing, financial independence, and legacy building.
I come from a background of self-education, having read over 25 books on personal finance, absorbed countless hours of tutorials, and experienced the ups and downs of the crypto world firsthand.
Writing is my way of giving back and helping others avoid the mistakes I made when I was starting out.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Crypto Unlocked: The Modern Guide to Digital Wealth. It was born from a real frustration I had with the overwhelming, hype-driven, and often confusing information about cryptocurrency online. I wanted to create something that cuts through the noise—a practical, beginner-friendly book that still respects the reader’s intelligence.
The goal was to help people understand not just how crypto works, but also why it matters in the bigger picture of financial literacy and long-term investing. It’s the kind of book I wish I had when I first started.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I think better when I swim. Every day, I swim for about an hour and a half, and that’s where many of my ideas take shape. It’s like meditation mixed with brainstorming. I also keep a physical notebook nearby at all times—there’s something about handwriting that helps me organize my thoughts better than typing alone.
And I have a strange habit of doing cover design mockups before finishing a draft. It helps me visualize the final product and stay motivated.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
In the finance and investing world, authors like Morgan Housel (The Psychology of Money) and Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad Poor Dad) left a big impression on me. I’ve also learned a lot from crypto-focused educators like Andreas Antonopoulos. However, even outside of finance, I admire clear communicators like Dale Carnegie and Cal Newport, who can explain complex topics in simple, actionable language.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently finalizing Book 1 in my upcoming series, Wealth Odyssey. It’s called Money Mindset Makeover: From Spender to Wealth Builder and focuses on reshaping how we think about money. The whole series will guide readers through six key stages of building and protecting wealth, from mindset shift to smart investing and building a legacy.
I’m also continuing to write articles at VaultKeyPress.com, where I share practical financial insights.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve been experimenting with a mix of Amazon Ads, strategic promotions like Kindle Countdown Deals, and book promo sites like BookButterfly and BargainBooksy. But what works is consistency—showing up, learning what works, and slowly building visibility.
Reddit has also been useful for connecting with genuine readers, provided you approach it with authenticity and value.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes: Be consistent and treat this like a real business. You won’t get rich overnight, but every book is a step forward. Invest time in learning how KDP works, how to design a solid cover, write a compelling description, and choose smart keywords. And keep writing because each project teaches you something new.
The biggest mistake you can make is expecting results without doing the groundwork.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Don’t try to be perfect—try to be useful.”
That shifted my entire approach. It’s easy to get stuck in revisions or imposter syndrome. But if you focus on helping someone, even just one reader, you’ll naturally create something valuable. That mindset took the pressure off and helped me finish Crypto Unlocked.
What are you reading now?
I just finished “The Millionaire Next Door”—a classic that remains relevant. I’m always revisiting key finance books, but I also sneak in sci-fi and psychology titles when I can. I enjoy learning about how people think and what drives their behavior—it also helps with writing.
What’s next for you as a writer?
The Wealth Odyssey series is my big focus. It’s a 6-book roadmap for individuals who want to build wealth gradually and wisely, without falling into the trap of get-rich-quick thinking. I also want to turn Crypto Unlocked into an audiobook. In the long term, I’d love to transform my publishing brand into a comprehensive resource hub for modern financial education.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius — for mental clarity and resilience
The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel — timeless insights on how we relate to money
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho — to remind me to follow the signs
and maybe Crypto Unlocked — so I could finally read it as a reader. 😄
