Interview With Author Zoiy Galloay
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My debut book came out three months ago. I have four finished novels that I’m trying to publish between now and next year . . . and about a dozen other exciting books in my mental bank.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Royal Matchmaking Competition: Princess Qloey (RMC Series)
I enjoy reading love triangles and unpredictable endings and decided on writing a book where there are not three, but twelve choices in marriage. Of course, only four contestants are at the forefront in Princess Qloey’s mind, plus a few antagonists in the midst. This way, the reader can pick and choose who they like the most and root for them along the way.
I had a little bit of inspiration from The Selection, but I wanted to do my own version where the reader cannot predict who the princess will choose to be her husband in the end. This also takes place in a fairy-filled world with elves, dwarves, centaurs, and other fun creatures. Who doesn’t love a good fae romance . . . or dwarven romance?
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Get up and do the Boogie Woogie once in a while, it’s fun and is good cardio.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. This book inspired me as a teen. I love the philosophical literary aspect of it. It inspired me to add a bit of positive philosophy into my books.
What are you working on now?
I’m nearly ready to send the third book in the Royal Matchmaking Competition Series to my first editor, meaning I get to continue working on my other books. Currently, I have a fully competed medieval wizard book (The Wizard Code) that needs some love, and I’ve already started working on a pirate romance novel.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Well, Awesome Gang, of course! I’m using every resource I possibly can right now since I’m a debut author and not many readers know about me yet. My books are on multiple sites and I use paid and free resources to reach a wider audience. As an author and reader myself, I just want to give others a good, light-hearted book to read. So I hope more can discover this fun world I’ve created. That way, I’ll have more time to write new content.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Go all in during the pre-publication process with getting reviewers. Hire professional and well-qualified editors. Always hire a professional cover illustrator, and don’t be afraid to give your book away.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I AM.
What are you reading now?
Princess Academy: Palace of Stone by Shannon Hale. So far, I’d recommend it to anyone!
What’s next for you as a writer?
My goal is to publish 4 books in my first year (2023), plus I’m working on an audiobook for the RMC: Princess Qloey.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
An Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, I AM Discourses, and the Bhagavand Gita. Gotta keep the mind positive when stranded . . . and just in general.
