Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Drew and I am originally from Mississippi. I joined the navy when I was seventeen as an aviation electrician. I have served for almost fourteen years. I am married with two daughters, and I live in Virginia. I have published six books/novellas, with many more to come.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Raven. It is part of The Twin Cities Series which is a group effort of five different authors. It is in the urban fantasy genre and it was inspired by The Dresden Files universe, though this series is not associated with Jim Butcher’s series in any way.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I start a lot of projects that never get completed (yet). Maybe every writer does it, but when you have ten projects in work at once, it’s kind of overwhelming…
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Jim Butcher, Hugh Howey, Peter David, there are so many that it’s hard to remember them all.
What are you working on now?
Several things. Mor ein The Twin Cities Series, two books in The Dead Planet Series, a couple of novellas in the paranormal realm, and a middle grade adventure book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use my blog to conduct interviews with other authors and have a link to my own work on each blog post. Between that and twitter I see a little action.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be patient, this doesn’t happen over night, and in most cases it will take years to get where you want to be. But don’t give up either.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write. Publish. Repeat. Don’t let anything stall you in writing your next book.
What are you reading now?
The Maze Runner by James Dashner.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Writing even more stuff lol.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Can I just bring a kindle loaded with everything that has an unlimited power supply? I seriously have no idea. My choice in books depends on my mood, though I would probably choose really thick books that take a while to read. That way I will feel like I get a bigger band for my buck…
