About The Hedges at Alpine by Gip Roberts
Kindle Kirkpatrick struggles through life with social anxiety disorder. At age thirty-nine he lives with a difficult father, is unemployed, and has trouble meeting people.
Through a chance encounter he befriends Mooriah Sparks, a woman in her thirties who works as a waitress, deals with an overbearing mother, and has a degree in biology she can’t use. Neither realize that dark days are ahead which will test both their friendship and their will to persevere.
Kindle doesn’t know his exasperated father intends to put him in a group home for adults with mental disabilities; Mooriah doesn’t know just how severe Kindle’s social anxiety is until their friendship progresses to dating and things go terribly wrong.
Thanks to his easygoing neighbor Brandon, a cannabis-smoking Bohemian who seems successful in life despite his habit, Kindle reluctantly accepts a job offer. Meanwhile his father reveals an unwelcome secret from the past that will determine the future of their father/son relationship.
Kindle must face his worst fears head on if he’s ever to make progress with his issues. His domestic future, career, and his future with Mooriah are all at stake. The question is: Will he?
