Do you have any advice for new authors?
Lynnette’s advice for new authors is to figure out what you want to write about and why. What important impactful message “take away” do you want the readers to get from reading the content in your book. Then, figure out if you want to be a self-publisher or if you want to work with a well known publishing company, to do so you will need a literary agent, because most well known publishing companies will not accept “unsolicited manuscripts.” Do your research, the internet has a wealth of information about how to obtain a literary agent as well as how to self-publish, if you choose do. Before you submit your work to any one, make sure that your finished work is Copyrighted by the Copyright office. Do your Research, Research, Research. Research your topic to see if someone else has the same thoughts and ideas before you Publish your book, and Cite all sources.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice that Lynnette heard is, “Don’t worry about getting it perfect as you are writing, you will edit, revise, re-read, rephrase, and edit again a number of times, just get your thoughts out first and then go back to edit. Have someone else read over your work, because they might catch typos and errors that you might have missed and they might also have questions that will help you clarify the meaning in a rephrase to make what you are saying clear and easy to understand by all audiences.
